I love flea market!
and this has been marked down
since day 1 I was going through SH attractions
it was drizzling
not so much of a crowd
despite being a Saturday
and basically this place is understated
the common traveling guidebook doesn’t
include this place as an attraction
and yeah this place is
kinda awesome
it smells really old
as compared to
Pan Jia Yuan 潘家園 in Beijing,
the probability of finding an
authentic vintage items is definitely higher
Don’t Grab X Until Bargain’s Met: PJY Flea Market
for a market where instant noodle is
almost like a necessity
I guess someone should come out with
a campaign of eating instant noodle
from these metal pots instead of
waxed-coat paper bowl and
take-away food in polystyrene bowl
I can believe my dad
took interest in the candle holder of all things
it is left with one though
the old gentleman is kinda nice
I got a feeling we gonna spend
the whole afternoon hanging around here
the amount of suitcase piling at the back
I guess they can fetch a good price
after a little refurbishing
and that little tricycle is something
I always want to get for my kid(s)
and wooden horse too
hehe…
so we ended up in the little hut
as a flea marketer with Mr. Dou
partly because of the rain too
and he has loads higher valued treasures
in the little hut
oh man
oh man
you mean toy from my childhood
already qualify for a place in flea market?
that’s a typical ShangHai alley,
in there are the residences
whereby they have proper signage
on the cement wall
this one is call RuYi Lane
how often do you come across
gentleman who plays you a song on
Er-Hu on a raining afternoon
telling you story from the past
I have Er-Hu towards Er-Hu, for real
due to the snake-skin-laminate
damn.. can’t they use something else
or else I would consider getting one
if you know what I looted from Pan Jia Yuan
the cookies tin can are really lovely
especially those with the myth stories like
Journey to the West
How to get here:
Metro Line 10 (purple)
Lao Xi Men Station 老西門
Exit 4
Walk along XiZang South Road 西藏南路
and the market is right on your left
after crossing 1 or 2 road junction(s)
I made the terribly mistake of
not capturing the signboard,
really old looking one
when I entered, thinking that
I probably will do it later
when we were exiting
so i found one from Google Image instead
which happens to look like
it’s captured on a drizzling day too
yet we didn’t go this way
because the market is spread
across a “+” shape
so we entered through south wing and
left via west wing
opposite the flea market
along the main road
there’s a flower & pet market
saturated with people
which is worth visiting too
if you wanna experience the
vibrant feeling of a local market
