Stephelle’s Kitchen: Home-Baked Hash Brown

my previous Stephelle’s Kitchen post

was like 6 months ago…

Sunday afternoon

home alone

waiting for mom and dad to come back for lunch

baked the Hash Brown Patties we bought yesterday

this is still considered baking, right?

preheat, 20 mins, 220 degree C

the outcome kinda disappointed me

how come I was just baking it

without adding a single drop of oil

but it turned out to be so oily

then I checked out the box

it was deepfried and frozen

so basically…

it’s not much different from the roadside stall

banana fritters aka Pisang Goreng

Pisang Goreng may be better

because it’s fried and eaten fresh

ew... oily

but so sorry to tell the truth

it’s so obvious isn’t it

for a baking session as easy as this

I broke a piece of the Hash Brown

broken hash brown

till two something

they were not back yet

I decided to make my own version of

HOME BAKED HASH BROWN

HBHB

aha, brilliant idea

1st of all..

prepare 3 pieces of potatoes

obviously….

skinned potato

2ndly, shred the potatoes

but of course I have to cubed it first

cubing the potatoes

you see

I learn a lot from Mr. Ray Ban

the double short knives warrior

who love noodles so much

雷彬

that I managed to shred the potato

into perfection within minutes

with double knives too

shredded to perfection

all of a sudden

meow…

hello kitty

what do you want

a pink kitty

sorry

meet Miss Pinkitty from Kuching

hoho a kuhing (cat) from Kuching

my pepper powder actually

Miss Pinkitty, my pepper powder

after seasoning

separate an egg york from its white

and beat both respectively

york / white

the white is mixed with the seasoned potato

and the york was brushed onto the surface

to create that golden-brown effect

on-tray

I baked it with 220 degree Celsius

same as the temperature I used for the

ready-made HB

baking...

excluding preheat

I baked for like 20 minutes

that’s pretty long I think

what my master told me was

next time I should steam the potato first

and mashed it

then it would save a lot of work and time

okay

I know this is the moment

you have been long waiting for

the official product launch…

HBHB

ladies and gentleman

put your hands up for

Home Baked Hash Brown

from Stepelle’s Kitchen

with..

no preservatives

no artificial flavouring

no colouring

99% oil free

fresh from the oven

it's soft and warm inside, just like me :Pfish-ball look-alike

p/s

actually I lied

after cubing the potato

I found it pretty time consuming

so I shredded it with my shredder

then continue to shred it with knife again

so it’s a three steps process

but I guess the best thing to do is

not to cube it

but directly jump to shredding

my secret weapon, shredder

and my parents were back

after 5pm..

so we skipped lunch

and this is our tea

fusion of the spicy, the warm, the slurpy, the chewy

tea time
