it wasn’t exactly an exciting day
but somehow it ain’t any ordinary Wednesday
basically there were no class in the afternoon, again??
there was this movie screening thing
not exactly a new one
《Muallaf》, by late Yasmin Ahmad
but quite a controversial one
dealing with the issue of religions
it always creates a havoc
when it comes to religion issues
and I don’t know why
I mean it is not back in the medieval where
people can simply conduct massacre
just because they don’t like your religion
like language, skin colour or even your hobby
it is just part of our identities
as to what you can do
and what you can’t be doing
people can judge you
but they couldn’t change you, can they?
especially your mind set
well, I shouldn’t go on and elaborate further
in short, I am quite open-minded
when it comes to this part
anyway back to the movie
it explores more issues such as
sisterhoods, family violence and
of course… love
well seriously
this is like the very first time
I am watching a local film
yes, this is how bad it is
I don’t really get exposure to local arts
Muallaf movie trailer
so the lead actress, Sharifah Amani
made her way down
as the guest speaker
regarding her experiences in the industry
and of course, quite a bit about late Yasmin Ahmad
really salute this girl
she didn’t prepare any scripts or stuffs
right away opened questions to the floor
and the whole session was about Q&A
she is so articulate, vibrant and confident
you can tell she really enjoy performing
and now she even got involved in behind-scene filming
like script-writing and directing
this is how people are driven by passion
and are moving on with motivation
definitely although no class attendance
was being taken for the day
us who were there
would have picked up something from her
