March, Grateful

12 days have passed since March

but it was somehow quite memorable

so it shouldn’t be much of a problem

to recount what have taken place

*

the month started slow, as usual

then stable and i was secretly praying that

i can keep the same pace

until end of the month

which is unlikely

*

a few days before

our trip to Chongqing

received a tough one

100+ pages of slides

*

managed to get an extension

but somehow pushed myself to

finish it all before the trip

in 3-4 days

*

the week at Chongqing

was surprisingly smooth

and i would say ideal for

a freelancer

*

got myself a serviced apartment

which was huge and super cosy

so i got a work desk and a sofa

and a riverview “balcony” to lean on

while working

*

efficiency was super duper low

during the “peak-hour” from 7-10 PM

as i was either busy cooking dinner

or doing laundry

*

and most importantly watching my favorite boy on TV

yummsssss

*

i am actually so flexible with work hours

that I can wake up at 11PM, 1AM or 3AM

this time round it was less of a hassle

as workload was manageable

*

so i actually woke up at 4 AM, 5 AM and 6AM

depending on submission load

*

the blue stepped in

when the weekend approached

on top of vacation-ending-soon

kind of blue

*

amendment required for the file

and a few petty tasks flooded in

on a Friday evening

*

nevertheless was glad that

the overall quality is okay

just that there were careless mistakes

like missing translations for footnote

*

and was given heads-up that

reports for another 8 countries

were actually on they way

*

i flew on a Saturday night

touched down on a Sunday morning

which wasn’t really as bad

because you know you have some

buffer time to kick start

and i slept through the flight

to replenish before a busy week ahead

*

so the whole Sunday was spent

on this particular project

another round of amendment

came in 11 PM on Sunday

*

so i actually gathered the momentum

to work all the way until 2 AM

to get the 2nd report done

on top of amendment for the 1st

*

so throughout the weeks

until early this week

i was working on the reports

one after another

and finally done with all 9

plus a summary report

submitted yesterday

*

there were almost 1000 slides

days and nights

under pressure for

almost a month

as this is actually

one of my fav brands

and I have recently KIV-ed

one of their latest launch

*

something else happened in between

during the Friday that

tasks flooded in

one of them was due in subsequent Wednesday

so i wasn’t really paying attention

and it wasn’t something tough

*

thank goodness it wasn’t

because i totally forgot about it

i think this is the first time in history

until i received email on Wednesday

asking if the file is ready for delivery

*

thank goodness managed to finish

not exactly on time but

within the day itself

well… thank goodness

*

thank you Chongqing

for giving me the opportunity

to imagine life as a freelancer

in a small SOHO unit
