it has been exactly one week
since i started working at a gelato store
and here are the 7 Things i’ve been enjoying so far…
*
#1 Sims game in action
should i name it Ice Cream Tycoon,
Waffles Dash or Gelato Dash?
*
#2 Get to see the world goes round
what’s hot & what’s not.
After being absent from Malacca for quite awhile,
all i can say is people nowadays dress up more.
Loads lenglui are walking by everyday,
not forgetting some lengzai once in awhile
*
#3 Spread the joy
especially to little kids
who enjoy their gelato treat
*
#3 Boss is not around all the time
with friendly supervisor and neighbours around.
You know how i like to fool around,
doing crazy stuffs once in awhile.
*
#4 Free to go on FB, MSN and play music
i even watched 1 hour of Youtube at work on Tuesday.
Currently reading a thick copy of Mark Twain.
*
# 5 No pressure on sales.
That’s why we can do whatever we like
when there’s no customers.
*
#6 Hence is not necessary to stand in the middle of the street
to “entice” customers like what i did for my 1st job.
There are so many competitors around,
it is a tough business.
*
# 7 Weight losing plan is going well,
as long as i don’t eat supper after back home at 10pm.
*
7 Things i’ve not been enjoying so far…
#1 cracked lips and soring legs
Long hours in dry air-con space,
most of the time standing, what do you expect…
someone even thought that i mis-applied lipsticks
reddish cracked thick sausage lips.
*
#2 Spending more than 20 mins washing equipment in the toilet.
The negative aura of the toilet asides,
i secretly think those toilets users are tsk-ing me.
“poor girl, washing so many stuffs”,
“stupid girl, won’t you do your washing somewhere else,
you are occupying the basin and i want to make-up”,
“that’s the consequence of not studying hard,
end up as a cleaner” etc etc…
*
#3 i always go home with
oily face and vanilla smell.
It is so sickening and sticky.
*
#4 The environment is stuffy and heaty.
Heat from the gelato showcase, 2 fridges and waffles maker.
Also the studio spotlights.
It is burning me up.
*
#5 The miserable pay.
Can you believe it, for the first two weeks,
i will only be paid rm3 per hour, and the week after rm 3.5.
There’s no EPF, SOSCO blah blah blah…
Most of the boutiques are paying rm 4 as basic salary,
with commission.
*
#6 The long working hours till 10 pm.
i have to work from 1pm to 10pm most of the time,
and even 10am to 10pm on weekends.
*
#7 Can’t really dress up anymore.
The dark blue polo T + pants + covered shoes + pony tail,
But is this considered an advantage?
It saves a lot of time indeed.
*
since i landed on this job
has tried my luck 3 times for another job
but to no avail
a kindergarten teacher, sales assistant at Roxy, restaurant cashier
*
p.s.
no matter what
i always feel blessed with where i am now
going home tired
there are my loved ones waiting
talking about what happened during the day
waking up on a familiar and warm bed
jolly good old home
