two days ago

i went for evening walk

with Ah B and dad

Coming out of Carrefour

I saw Melvin, coming to my way

It’s him.. it’s him

I have not seen him for so so long

He is not in tie and long sleeved shirt

first time see him in shorts and tee

*

he passed by me

going into Carrefour

I guess

*

if i am not with dad

maybe i will turn back and follow him

haha…

The first time i saw Melvin

is the 1st day i went to work in the mall…

*

He was smoking at the backlane

you see, the feeling is different

if a Ah beng is smoking there

compared with a guy in smart tie

and long-sleeve smoking

he looked so cool

*

i told myself

i must find out where is this guy working

The answer is easily available

he was working at the optical shop

opposite the stall i was working

I can see him everyday

*

it’s so exciting

when i met him on

my way to the wash room

*

walking past his shop

i will try not to hunch

if he was standing outside

*

if carrying something

will pretend it’s very heavy

hoping he will notice

and come help me

*

when he went for lunch

wondering what he was eating

*

then i noticed how sophisticated

he closed the door

and felt so proud when

i told my colleagues about it

(i m not the only 38 working there)

you know those automated door

so after he turned on the switch

he had to slide out really quick

or get stuck inside

imagine you are watching MI or Bond

i am sure his plump colleagues can’t do this

and he is the one holding the key

oh.. cool

he must be the manager

or the supervisor

*

then one day we were thinking

what kind of bag was he carrying ya?

don’t tell me he was carrying

a Nike shoulder bag

*

to my relief…

it’s  a black leather carrier

then later i change to carry a black bag too

i don’t know…

*

he did not wear those black leather shoes

with pointed head

his shoes were perfectly normal

*

i found out his name ……

one day he was on his way to lunch

i took our sample cookies

and asked him to try

he didn’t

but his smile was so sweet

*

and i was so near that i got

to read the tiny name tag on his chest..

he got quite well-built chest too

“Melvin”

*

we called him Mel..

as if we had known him for ages

*

we found out he got a car

cause he walked up from underground car park

everyday

*

one day we will pretend that

contact lenses got stuck

and ask him for help

* 

then i found out more about him

from his ex-classmate working nearby

*

but i wouldn’t want to

fool around with this guy

just because i want to get to know Mel

*

it really lightened up my day

to see him again

*

forget about those good for nothing guys

who fong me fei kay….

they are nothing compared to ah mel

It’s such a fun to pretend

you are a secret admirer

Trip Alone to Jasin

yesterday morning i so excited

took a bus to Jasin

passed by Tehel

have a couple of friends staying here

*

The bus was so empty

1 pak cik

1 ah pek

1 gadis

1 me

*

then later 2 Indians came up at Kg Tehel

then another 3 foreign workers

at Jasin Industry Park

well representative of 3 major races in Malaysia

plus foreign workers

*

what i like about bus services in Malaysia is

the driver is more human-like

they talk to the passengers, joke around

*

somewhere at Bemban

the bus driver

can even called a kedai runcit uncle out

and paid him some money

*

it has been awhile since i last went Jasin

Changes observed along the way

- a new roundabout near Ayer Molek High School

- new road signs near Kampung Tehel

- Taman Asia Selatan has came into life    

- the fruit stall destroyed in fire has been replaced

- new signboard for Jasin Industrial Park 

*

when riding a bus

can see further and clearer

the view is great

*

when we go by car

we are either too busy talking

or listening to songs

*

a couple of times on bus

i have fallen in love with this feeling

spend a couple of minutes

listening to the voices of nature

going further away from the hustle and bustle

*

it’s very much like

MCdull going to Maldives

The Old Pizza Hut is Gone

How could they closed down

the 1st Pizza Hut in Melaka

somewhere near The Renaissance Hotel

and shifted to this empty Digital Mall

*

I believe this is where some Malaccans

taken their 1st bites of Pizza ever

Some even believe that the Pizzas

served here are better than other branches

Now it’s gone

Nice!!

And we could compare the business

between the Pizza Hut

and the Famosa Chicken Rice right opposite

to see which one is preferred by the tourists

There are times where both had

really bad business

*

Since the Pizza Hut was located

at a busy junction

the waiters would always lead the customers

to take seats by the window panes

*

While cars were waiting for

the light to turn green

those people in the car

can see people enjoying Pizza inside

A great window display by the pizza eaters

*

Especially when you are stuck in a heavy jam

on a hot afternoon…

The pizza temptation can be irresistible

with my grandpa and an auntie

after a tired day at school

during primary 4 I think

when i was working part-time

at a pharmacy nearby

The day before my niece was born

that’s our dinner before we

met her in the morning

have to go now

My niece wants to play ball

Otherwise she will right away turn my pc off

the shop lot is still abandoned after that long

and i will never go to the new location

Touring Melaka with RM10

Today’s Saturday…

Morning I though of going for a jog at the

recreational park at Bukit Serindit

6.30 am i told my mom…

No way, it’s dark n far

*

Ok, So I decided to go St. Paul Hill

Me and Ah B

She didn’t want to proceed further

aft we stopped by the chicken barn

*

Fine…

Morning Jog turned out to be

barn sight-seeing

*

After breakfast at 10am

I decided that

i wanna go somewhere

Ah B has been watching too much of TV

eating too much food all day long

*

We went to the bus stop

The bus was here very soon

I paid for my fare…

and mom was going to hand Ah B to me.

She protested and didn’t want to go up

*

So i end up on the bus all alone

I had totally no idea where was i heading to.

Anyway, the bus trip was a pleasant one

*

It’s not the usual bus

It was a Panorama Bus

All pretty new

The routes are around tourist spots in Melaka

*

It’s something like SBS bus in Sg

Well air-conditioned

clean seats and even computerized tix

*

It’s written on the tix

the tix is valid for the whole day trip

Wow, not bad ya…

RM 1 for a whole-day tix

*

Passed by the State library… 

Have had spent some times here

studying with my buddies during my

secondary school days

*

The new wing is finally done

But i haven’t been in there before

I haven’t been here for ages

Next time maybe

Since the bus service is so convenient now

*

I ended up at the Bus terminal, Sentral

I decided to walk across the Gerbang Sentral

the flyover linking Tesco.

*

Can’t believe it

i was wandering alone in Tesco

*

I came out with only RM 10 in my bag

So now left with RM 9 after

paying for my bus fare

So my budget for this trip was only RM 8

RM 1 for back up

*

I bought a can of St. Dalfour jam, RM 7.90

cause it’s within my budget

*

Then i headed back to Sentral

Took another bus home.

It costed me another RM 1

So i was only left with 10 cents

*

It’s so miserable

I didn’t have my purse with me

No IC, no nothing…

*

Like a domestic helper…

Plus a Eeyore milk bottle

a box of Pocky

and a 200ml water bottle

all belong to Ah B

*

Too bad I didn’t have my camera with me

My mom said it’s not safe to

bring alone camera on a bus trip

*

On my trip back

it felt weird

I was the only Chinese

and I was the only one alone

*

The bus past by Hang Tuah Walk

The Gloria Jeans outlet has closed down

replaced by another local mamak stall

* 

And another failed project

the Digital Mall

The only operating shop is Pizza Hut

which is so so small

*

Then next stop

it is Mahkota Parade and Dataran Pahlwan

*

I wanna go shopping for all the items

i had spotted yesterday

considering this morning

i was richer by RM 200

I had RM 300 cold hot cash with me

without the need to ask for money

*

80% of the bus passengers got down

But i couldn’t

With 10 cents in the bag

Forget about it

*

I continued feasting on the Pocky

Pocky has never tasted that great

especially when you are hungry, penniless

I drank from the Kiddi cup too

*

The driver had to informed the passengers

about important stops,

including The Stadhuys, Mahkota

and Penjara (The Jail)

*

Is it supposed to be one of the tourist destinations?

I am not too sure

Maybe the smallest jail in Malaysia

An unique site in the midth of city

*

Reached home

Ah B was soundly aslept

Such a traitor, who ffked on me

during the very very very last moment

*

It’s OK

it is better during half-way along the trip

she suddenly says she wants to go home

You knows how

kid misses home quite easily

*

Touring around is not a bad idea…

And i have learnt to

appreciate the public transport

*

At Sg and Nilai and elsewhere,

I learn to take public transport for survival

But i have never taken it seriously back here

*

Maybe I need a good camera

The Sony one is really great.

Sleek, touch screen, fancy color

*

Despite the cultural, patriotic, melancholic me

the shopaholic me still rules them all… 

Where am i heading tonight?

Elmo, My Fav Muppet

Why do i like Elmo…

It’s not simply about being cute

But he talks like a philos guy

And he is polite and gentle all the time

and he has a goldfish, Dorothy

*

at some point of time

I was tempted to buy this as a birthday gift

for my niece, AH B

for her 1st birthday. 

It costs something like RM 200

*

However lots of considerations

came into my thought

*

Firstly

maybe she will be scared by

this flurry red thing

who laughs so loud

*

Secondly

she will no like Elmo

and will smash it

and my RM 200 will be gone just like this

*

So i decided to spend on

a pair of jeans instead

and bought her clothes

that only costed me RM 50

*

Sorry Ah B

I will buy you something better  

on your 3rd birthday okay

*

Actually I don’t collect Elmo’s stuffs

Except a big piece of towel

with Sesame Gang

playing on a beach

*

I am slowly introducing

the Sesame Street gang to her

Maybe she will end up being a Elmo fan

and we can collect stuff together

*

Now whenever I play The Elmo’s Song

she can croon the song quit well

*

It’s really give you

a good feeling to watch Sesame Street

The western kids who live in

a friendly neighburhood

It’s like Human Geog Theory…

Effects of Americanization

Like McD in China

they don’t really like the burger

but eating in McD make them feel

civilized, modernized and

getting an American touch

Watching Barney, Sesame Street

gives the same feeling

of civilization and modernization

Those activities the kids perform

like snowman-building, horse-riding

are not something we can do here

And you get celebrities like Norah Jones

singing with The Muppets on the show

today i met a friend

she is very amazing

been travelling on her own quite a lot

eg, ASEAN countries and China

have worked in China for 1 year

and she planning to go JP for work n travel

after graduation

some of the field trip mates from Europe

before that i was wondering

why would they choose Singapore

as exchange destination

ain’t their uni far better than here

then now i know, they are here

just to travel in the region

go all over South East Asia

oh….

she told me

you should go around n travel

while you are young

once you tie the knot

it will be difficult to travel any more

that’s why she broke up with her bf

they had been together for 5 years

Maybe she is right

if we wouldn’t try out new things

how would we know

old phrase “new horizon”

after i took geography

i think it’s a very interesting subject

compared to Econs

maybe i shall change my major next sem

it’s fun and mind-opening
