right after KaiYuan Temple 開元寺
moving on to Paifang Street 牌坊街
the busy street right outside
leading to the city gate and bridge
like any other tourist attractions around
80% of the stores are
selling tourist offerings
like I doubt the local will
come all the way here to buy or eat
especially pickled fruits
70% of the shops are selling those
those are not too bad
if you enjoy
pickled plum, pickled olive
that sort of Chinese candies
the hustle and bustle
fades away as you walk
further away from the junction
like considered really quiet
given it was a Saturday
this is you know a bit rare
and the city centre outside
is a totally opposite scene
all I can say is
this is an old city, alright
but pretty newly-developed
in terms of tourism
these arches are built
in commeration of scholars
who did well in national exams
across different eras
the other side of the road
leading towards the city gate & bridge
the smaller lanes which
mainly consist of private residences
and one of the lanes
or you would prefer to call it a hutong
consisting of well preserved old houses
at least from the outside
