visiting the museum is
a must for every city i go
will always remember
how my Econs lecturer
during A-level used museum
to explain the concept of
free public good
well.. to tell you the truth
i remember how he used
museum as an example
but i can’t actually
remember a single detail
at all
in short
in my own word
museum is a totally
under-rated public good
that’s why it’s made free
a state-level museum
i.e. huge!!!
at level 1
there is a special exhibition
on civilizations around the world
made a quick round because
these are not what i come for
hey, Lucifer!
first sets of featured exhibits
items, including the coffin
unearthed from the tomb of
an elite known as
Marquis Yi of Zeng 曾侯乙
Marquis 侯 – title of a nobleman by hereditary
Yi 乙 – his name
Zeng 曾 – his surname
it’s extravagantly amazing
some 2400 years ago
people buried this set of bronze bell
as the favorite instrument of the “king”
it can play almost
as many tones as a piano
and to save space and resources
(bronze being real expensive back then)
a bell can actually play 2 tones
2nd most featured exhibit
Sword of Goujian 越王勾踐de劍
at least 2400+ years old
Goujian – the king of Yue Kingdom
the king was illustrated as
someone with great determination
who was made a slave after his kingdom
was conquered and
went through loads hardships
where the Chinese idiom
臥薪嘗膽 originated from
before he made a come-back
and beaten the enemy
Fucai of the Wu Kingdom 吳王夫差
3rd most featured set of items
a pretty neat collection of porcelain
across different dynasties
“Blue and white pottery” 元青花
at its finest level during the Yuan dynasty
inspired by the deer found in the tomb
they actually design some pretty
contemporary looking souvenirs
i looted 3 of that
accessory trays
while my dad found
his souvenirs here too
it’s an museum-exclusive
because the name of the museum
is printed right below
oh man!!
i sense a lot of sarcasm
in that comment in English
shame on him/her
